Businessman dies of leukemia



Dhaka, May 22 - Anhar Ahmed Chowdhury, a distinguished businessman from Dhaka's Gulshan-2 area, passed away at 10 pm yesterday at United Hospital after battling leukemia. He was 74.

Chowdhury served as a member of the Board of Trustees at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP). He was an active Rotarian and notably involved in Gulshan Society, where he held the position of Secretary General from 2012 to 2014.

Born to the late Abul Hasanat Chowdhury of "Bhatipara House" in Sylhet city’s Dargah Gate, Anhar Ahmed Chowdhury was widely respected in his hometown as well as in Dhaka. Known for his warm smile and amicable nature, he was a compassionate and benevolent figure dedicated to social welfare.

His death has cast a shadow of grief over his family and relatives both in the country and abroad. His namaz-e-janaza will be held today after Zohr prayers at the Gulshan Society Jame Mosque, followed by burial at Banani Graveyard, according to family sources.-UNB
