Schoolboy beaten to death ‘by neighbours’ in Chattogram



Chattogram, June 03 - A 15-year-old schoolboy who was beaten allegedly by his neighbours in Boalkhali  upazila of Chattogram  died at CMCH on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Md. Arif, a tenth grader  and son of Md. Zakir Hossain of Boalkhali upazila.

Deceased's father Zakir Hossain said,  Arif returned home after school in the afternoon, had a snack, and then went to play near their residence.

A quarrel broke out between Arif and Sakibul while playing and then Sakib and some others killed Arif and left him on the roadside.

Later, locals rescued the injured Arif and took him to the Upazila Health Complex at around 7:30 pm from where he was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

He died at CMCH around 9:00pm on Sunday.

Local UP member Md. Abbas Uddin said, “I have come to know that Sakib, his brother and mother beat Arif following an altercation between Sakib and Arif . Later he died.”

Police detained Sakib in this connection.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boalkhali Police Station Ashab Uddin said, they visited the spot, and a murder case was filed in this regard.-UNB
