Nationwide protests continued today, fueled by outrage over recent incidents of sexual violence against women and children across the country. Rights groups and activists have been vocal in condemning the brutal assault of an eight-year-old girl in Magura last Thursday, as well as a string of other sexual assault cases that have recently sparked public outcry.

In Feni, Chhatra Dal, the student wing of BNP, organized a human chain in front of Feni Government College, calling for the culprits to face the harshest possible punishment. They demanded capital punishment for those proven guilty under the law. The protest was addressed by local Chhatra Dal leaders, including Kazi Nazrul Islam Dulal, Jaker Hossain Riad, Saiful Islam Jiku, and others, who strongly condemned the violence and called for justice.

Similar protests took place in Jhenaidah, where Chhatra Dal formed another human chain in front of Jhenaidah College, drawing a large crowd. Speakers, including Mushfiqur Rahman Manik, Shahriar Russel, and Sakib Hossain, demanded immediate and stringent action from the government to combat sexual violence.

In Payra Chhattar, the Chhatra Dal KC College unit organized a human chain with participation from district unit leaders, including Saminuzzaman Samin and Imran Hossain.

In Savar, both students and local residents held protests and sit-ins, calling for the harshest punishments for those involved in sexual violence. Chhatra Dal’s Savar University College unit led a street march from Shaheed Maruf Chattar to the university, with district unit president Tamij Uddin in attendance. The National Citizen Party also joined the movement, organizing a protest march at Savar Press Club and demanding exemplary punishment for perpetrators of rape.

In Jashore, Mahila Dal organized a human chain in front of the Jashore Press Club, with several political figures, including BNP district unit general secretary Delowar Hossain Khokan, district Mahila Dal president Rashida Rahman, and others, joining the protest to demand justice for the victims.

In Bagerhat, the Chhatra Dal Kachua upazila unit and Kachua Degree College unit staged a human chain, while students at Rajshahi University held a protest rally in front of the main gate, calling for enhanced safety for women and children. The students demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for endangering the lives and security of women and children.

These ongoing protests reflect the nation’s growing demand for justice and stricter measures to prevent violence against women and children.
