Gaza in ruins Gazans in famine

“As the Israeli government’s siege starves the people of Gaza, aid workers are now joining the same food lines, risking being shot just to feed their families… States can and must save lives before there are none left to save.”

This was our joint message with humanitarian partners four weeks ago. Yet the situation in Gaza shows no signs of improving, and famine is spreading. We reflect on the final words of Palestinian Al Jazeera journalist Anas Al-Sharif, who was slain in a targeted Israeli airstrike: “I urge you not to let chains silence you, nor borders restrain you.”

“As a longtime humanitarian who has battled famines and hunger crises, I fear that starvation in Gaza has now passed the tipping point and we are going to see mass-scale starvation mortality.” - Jeremy Konyndyk, President of Refugees International.
