“Broadband internet services could be fully restored by tonight”
Dhaka, July 24 - State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Zunaid Ahmad Palak on Wednesday said that broadband internet services could be fully restored across the country by tonight.
“We are trying our level best to fully resume the broadband internet services across the country by tonight,” he said while speaking at a press briefing held at the BTRC Bhaban.
Asked when mobile internet services could be resumed, the state minister said a meeting is scheduled for Friday/Saturday with Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB), and attempts will be taken to resume the services by Sunday.
When his attention was drawn to social media platforms including Facebook and TikTok, Palak said meetings will be held with Facebook, YouTube and TikTok authorities regarding resuming access.
Around 70-80% of broadband internet services will be restored by tonight, Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) said earlier today.
ISPAB President Emdadul Hoque told UNB that they are aiming to fully restore broadband internet services by tonight. “We are working on this; hope at least 79-80% will be restored,” he added.
Internet services in some areas were restored last night. Important establishments including government institutions, banks, gas and electricity service providers had broadband internet services restored on a priority basis.
