3 steel mill workers’ limbs burnt by molten iron in Dhaka

Dhaka, Feb 15 - Three workers were burnt by molten iron as an iron pipe exploded in a steel mill in Bangladesh capital’s Jatrabari area on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 8.30 pm at Shahriar Steel Mill in Konapara of Jatrabari.

Burn victims Mohammad Shahin, 25, Mohammad Akter Hossain, 50, and Mohammad Main Uddin, 22, were taken to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Shafiul Islam, a colleague who brought victims to the hospital said, an old pipe of iron exploded and molten iron fell over the workers.

Md. Bachchu Mia, police inspector of DMCH police camp said that various parts of the body including the arms and legs of the three workers were burnt and they are undergoing treatment there. - UNB
