Initiatives Launched to Diversify Jute Products: Adviser

Commerce, Textiles, and Jute Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin announced that steps have been taken to diversify jute products to unlock the full potential of the industry. "The golden era of jute will be revived," he stated during the inauguration of a 3-day jute goods fair at the BSCIC regional office premises yesterday.
The fair, organized under the slogan "Let’s Come and Change the Country, Change the World," is a joint effort by the Department of Jute and the Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC).
Bashir Uddin emphasized that the government is hosting diversified jute fairs nationwide with the aim of training small-scale jute entrepreneurs, making raw materials for jute goods more accessible, and reducing costs. The fairs also provide a platform for jute entrepreneurs and users to exchange ideas. He encouraged innovators to create unique jute products, which could lead to value addition and the development of practical, commercially viable household items.
Director General of the Department of Jute Jinat Ara and Divisional Commissioner of Khulna M. Feroz Sarker were also present at the event, with Sarker presiding over the meeting.
Earlier, Sheikh Bashir Uddin visited various stalls at the fair, interacting with entrepreneurs about the potential of jute goods. The fair features 30 stalls and will remain open from 4 PM to 8 PM until tomorrow.
