OIC Secretary-General Condemns Military Mutiny in Niger

The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, has followed with concern the unfortunate events that took place in Niamey, the capital of the Republic of Niger, on Saturday, 29 August 2026.

The Secretary-General condemns in the strongest terms all actions that threaten the security and stability of the Republic of Niger and expresses the OIC’s solidarity with the country.

The OIC reiterates its unwavering support for Niger and its aspirations for security, stability, and development, and affirms its full readiness to coordinate with regional and international partners to support efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote national reconciliation. - UNB
