Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus emphasized the need to build a new world by adopting innovative thinking. In an interview with China Media Group (CMG) during his recent visit to Beijing, he stated, "No matter how hard we try to preserve the old world, it won't work." He called for a shift in mindset, advocating for a new framework to create a beautiful and sustainable world.

Regarding Bangladesh's relationship with China, Prof. Yunus highlighted China's readiness to cooperate and support Bangladesh in its ongoing reform efforts. He noted that Bangladesh requires significant reforms and expressed gratitude for the support from the Chinese government, businesses, and people. “This support is crucial, and it’s a great source of joy,” he added, reflecting on the success of his visit.

Prof. Yunus also reflected on his earlier visit to China, recalling the poverty he witnessed among rural women. He emphasized that poverty is a global issue and that overcoming it requires recognizing and nurturing people's creativity, providing institutional support, and empowering individuals. He also discussed the power of microcredit, stating that it can significantly change lives when used properly.

When asked about similarities between his ‘Three Zero Theory’ and President Xi Jinping’s modernization theory, Prof. Yunus pointed out that both share common goals. “The issues are the same, though expressed in different ways,” he said.

On Bangladesh-China relations, Prof. Yunus spoke positively about his discussions with President Xi. He highlighted that Bangladesh is in need of support and that China is keen to help. "There is potential for growth in both economy and trade," he stated. He also noted that Chinese investors will explore new opportunities in Bangladesh, fostering deeper ties between the two countries.

Prof. Yunus emphasized the importance of friendship with China, noting that this relationship would play a key role in building a new Bangladesh. As Bangladesh celebrates the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties with China, he vowed to strengthen these relations further. The Chief Adviser reiterated China’s assurance of support for Bangladesh in all situations.

Professor Du from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, who is working on a microcredit project aimed at improving the lives of rural women in China, was also present during the interview.
