Parliament to resume session on Tuesday after 7-day recess

Dhaka, Jul 06 – The second session of the 13th Parliament will resume on Tuesday after a week-long recess following the passage of a Tk 9,38,000-crore national budget for 2026-27 fiscal year on June 30 last. Tuesday’s sitting will begin at 3:00pm.

The Public Examinations (Offences) (Amendment) Bill, 2026 is likely to be passed in the Parliament, in order to bring changes to the existing law of 1980.

Besides, the Bogura University Bill, 2026 will be placed in a bid to abolish the existing Bogura University of Science and Technology, according to the schedule.

on June 30, the second session of the current parliament was adjourned immediately after the passage of the budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury placed the budget on June 11.

This year, the general discussion on the budget was held for 45 hours and 51 minutes and a total of 291 MPs joined the discussion. The 291 MPs include 200 from the ruling party and 91 from the opposition. - UNB
