Police detained Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, former information adviser to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in Dhaka on Wednesday (November 4).

He was detained in the capital’s Mohakhali area around noon, according to officials.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md. Akhter Hossain said Chowdhury had been taken to the Detective Branch (DB) for questioning over an unspecified incident.

DB chief Shafiqul Islam also confirmed the detention.

Earlier, on April 15, Chowdhury was stopped from travelling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah and sent back from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. He had been scheduled to fly to Jeddah on a Saudi Airlines flight.
