Legendary writer Humayun Ahmed's 75th birthday observed in Netrakona

Different socio-cultural and literary organizations including Himu Patak Adda chalked out various programs marking the birth anniversary of Dr Humayun Ahmed.



The 75th birth anniversary of popular writer, film maker and playwright Dr Humayun Ahmed was observed in Netrakona , his birth place on Monday recalling his immense contribution in the field of literature.

Different socio-cultural and literary organizations including Himu Patak Adda chalked out various programs marking the birth anniversary of Dr Humayun Ahmed. The programs were included placing of floral wreaths on his portrait, bringing out of colorful rallies, holding of discussions, cultural functions

and offering of special prayers.

As part of the programs, a rally was brought out in the district town in the morning from Satpai river bank area here under the auspices of the Himu Patak

Adda (a literary and cultural organization of the district). It was ended at the local Muktarpara ground after parading main roads of the town.

Renowned writer Professor Jatin Sarkar formally inaugurated and led the rally which was participated by people from all walks of life including a large

number of Himu Patak Adda activists, local writers, poets and civil society members.

A birthday cake cutting ceremony was held at Netrakona Mukta Moncha on local Muktarpara ground.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Netrakona Mohammad Foyaz Ahmed formally inaugurated the cake cutting ceremony.

A discussion meeting was also held at the Netrakona Mukta Moncha under the auspices of the Himu Pathok Adda,

Chaired by chief advisor of the Himu Pattak Adda journalist Alpana Begum, the discussion was, addressed, among others, by SP Netrakona Foyaz Ahmed,

additional deputy commissioner (ICT) Bipin Chandra Biswash, member secretary of Netrakona district Press club and valiant freedom fighter Advocate Habibur

Rahman and senior journalist and writer Shymolendu Paul.

The Speakers paid rich tributes to the memories of the legendary writer Humayun Ahmed and highlighted his literary works and his immense

contributions to the field of literature.

A musical soiree based on popular songs was held at Netrakona Shilpakala academy by the Himu Patak Adda in the evening.

Similar programs including bringing out rally and discussions were held at Shaheed Smrity Bidya Pit, a school which was established by Dr Humayun Ahmed

near his paternal house at village Kutubpur under Kendua upazila of the district.
