Love me true

Love me fair

That’s the say

Of all lovebirds-

On Valentine’s Day!

But there is the other side

Where love is hardly shared

Between the privileged

And the under-privileged!

Look at the Boy

Near the traffic lights,

The signal turns red

Traffic halts….

The little boy runs faster

To reach the expensive sedan

Keeping behind the jam-packed

Town service coaster.

Quickly he starts his wiping task

With his brush made of chicken feathers.

The sedan driver slides down

The window glass-

Shouts in a voice so rough and harsh

Idiot! How dare you touched

My million taka priced car?

Sir! I just clean your car

Pay me anything you gladly care

And inspire me to earn

My living using physical labor!

Suddenly the signal drops,

Green paves the way clear.

Smoothly the sedan moved forward

Leaving a sense of satire

For the poor boy-

Who bursts into tear!

O Lord, he sobbed-

How could I manage livelihood

Of me and my family members

In a way—

That is honest and fair?

On the Valentine’s Day

If not flowers and chocolates

Could be shared-

But treat these human-beings
