Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim on Sunday said the government will not allow entry of any cattle from outside the country ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

Dhaka, Jun 4 :  Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim on Sunday said the government will not allow entry of any cattle from outside the country ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The minister said this while speaking virtually at the inauguration of DNCC Digital Haat.
He said, “About 1.19 lakh cattle are ready for the sacrifice during upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. We did not allow cattle to come from outside the country during past two Eid festivals. Still, there was no crisis of sacrificial animals.”
This year as well there are enough sacrificial animals in the country and the border security forces were instructed to stop cattle smuggling by all means.
He said local farmers have worked hard and made investment for cattle rearing. They should be able to sell their cattle at fair price.
He said Bangladesh has achieved remarkable success in livestock sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The country has started exporting meat and dairy products, he said.
Modern slaughter-houses will be built in every municipality outside Dhaka where blood or waste could be processed in hygienic ways.
Members of Parliament, DNCC officials, leaders of E-Commerce Association and  Dairy Association were present at this virtual ceremony, reports UNB.
