Language hero, freedom fighter, veteran journalist and columnist, founding general secretary of Pabna Press Club Ranesh Maitra has passed away .



Language hero, freedom fighter, veteran journalist and columnist, founding general secretary of Pabna Press Club Ranesh Maitra has passed away at the age of 90.
He breathed his last at 3:47 am on Monday (September 26) while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Popular Hospital.
General secretary of Pabna Press Club Saikat Afroz Asad confirmed his death.
Ranesh Maitra was awarded country’s second highest civilian award Ekushey Padak in 2018 for his contribution in journalism.
Maitra was born on October 4, 1933 at his maternal house at Nahata village in Rajshahi. His father Ramesh Maitra was an elementary school teacher. He got his matriculation certificate from Gopal Chandra Institution (GCI) in 1950. Later, he completed his IA in 1955 and BA in 1959 from Govt. Edward College, Pabna.
