In a statement on Wednesday (December 20), Editors Forum chief advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, convener Rafiqul Islam Ratan and member secretary Faruk Ahmed Talukdar said so.

Pro-government Bangladesh Editors Forum has strongly condemned and protested the arson terrorism, sabotage and conspiracy of BNP-Jamaat in the name of boycotting the upcoming 12th national elections to be held on January 7, 2024.

In a statement on Wednesday (December 20), Editors Forum chief advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, convener Rafiqul Islam Ratan and member secretary Faruk Ahmed Talukdar said since October 28 last, BNP-Jamaat and some of their allies have been continuously enforcing blockade and hartal and setting fire to vehicles and trains burning people alive in the name of boycotting polls, reports BSS.

The country's people have already rejected and resisted the terror acts and anarchy created by BNP's non-cooperation movement, they said.

It is a democratic right of any individual and party to decide whether to participate in elections or abstain from polls, the statement said, but the attempt to create an unstable situation in the country in the name of boycotting polls is completely illegal and an offense.

The forum demanded that the law enforcement agencies should take strict action against those involved in such misdeeds and called upon international agencies to keep alert against the anti-election terrorism and sabotage being carried out by BNP-Jamaat.
