Journalists get Tk 10.50 lakh from BJWT

A total of 17 journalists in Mymensingh received cheques amounting Taka 10.50 lakh from Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust (BJWT) as gift of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) president Omar Faruque today distributed the cheques among the journalists at a programme held at Mymensingh Press Club auditorium as the chief guest.

Presided over by BJWT Managing Director (MD) Subash Chanda Badal, it was addressed, among others, by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulak Kumer Chakrabarty, BFUJ Vice President Musharaf Hossain, BFUJ Joint Secretary General Omit Roy, Mymensingh Press Club general secretary Babul Hossain, Mymensingh Union of Journalists President Ataul Karim Khokan and Secretary Meer Golam Mustafa.

BFUJ President Omar Faruque in his speech said the country's journalist community would remain grateful to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she has taken different welfare steps for their welfare.

He urged journalists to raise their voice against yellow journalism to ensure objective journalism.

BJWT Managing Director Subash Chandra Badal thanked the prime minister for taking such a welfare steps for the journalists, reports BSS.
