Death row convict dies at DMCH

A death row convict in a murder case died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early Tuesday.



Gazipur, Aug 31 :  A death row convict in a murder case died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early Tuesday.

The deceased was Fazlur Rahman Tanmoy alias Tapas, of Lotakhola village of Dohar in Dhaka.

Abdul Jalil, senior jail superintendent at Kashimpur Central Jail-2, said he fell sick at the jail around 11:15 pm on Monday and was taken to the jail hospital.

When his condition deteriorated there, he was taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 2.15pm.

The body will be handed over to his family after legal procedures.

Tapas was sentenced to death in a murder case filed with Dhanmondi police station in Dhaka. In another case, he was sentenced to 14 years jail  under the Arms Act, reports UNB.
