The huge tailback that has been created on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway's Tongi since early Wednesday, is now stretched till Banani in the capital.
As the day progresses, it was also affecting other roads in the city.
Due to the traffic congestion, commuters, specially office-goer, were facing immense sufferings. All the vehicles are standstill on the road and the line of vehicles are getting long.
There were traffic jams from Tongi's Millgate area to Dhaka's Banani on the Mymensingh-bound road and Tongi's Board Bazar area on the Dhaka-bound road from the morning.
One of the main reasons behind this congestion is waterlogging from the incessant rainfall caused by cyclone Sitrang and road repair works in Gazipur.
Nuruzzaman, an employee of a private organization, said he had been stuck on Tongi Station Road for one and a half hours.
The road from Abdullahpur to Chandona Chowrasta in Gazipur has narrowed due to the ongoing work of the BRT project.
Meanwhile, vehicles from Banani-Airport were seen stand on the road for hours after hours.
