The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka today fixed June 12 for submission of the probe report in a case filed about the murder of Colonel Khandaker Nazmul Huda, Bir Bikram on November 7, 1975.

Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam passed the order, accepting the First Information Report (FIR) of the case.

Earlier in the morning, martyr Colonel Khandaker Nazmul Huda’s daughter and lawmaker Nahid Ijhar Khan filed the case with capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station against Major retired Abdul Jalil of the 10th East Bengal Regiment and 20/25 other unidentified persons. 

The complainant of the case alleged Colonel Khandaker Nazmul Huda, Major General Khaled Mosharraf, Bir Uttam, Lieutenant Colonel ATM Haider, Bir Uttam,

were gunned down by some disgruntled members of Bangladesh Army at then headquarters of the 10 East Bengal Regiment situated at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises.

“From different sources, we learned that following the directions of then Army Chief Ziaur Rahman and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal leader Lieutenant Colonel retired Abu Taher, the disgruntled officers and soldiers of the 10th East Bengal Regiment killed my father and two of his companions in cold blood. The killers even charged bayonet to make sure their deaths,” the complainant said. 

Nahid Ijhar Khan further said as the time after that murder was adverse for seeking justice they had to wait so long, and as now the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is in power, I want justice for the murder of my father and other two valiant freedom fighters who were killed along with him on that day. - Special Correspondent
