Navy chief opens Navy school and college in Kalapara.
Patuakhali: Chief of Navy Admiral M Nazmul Hasan inaugurated the Bangladesh Navy School and College in Kalapara under the district. He inaugurated the newly constructed Bangladesh Navy School and College, Patuakhali at Banauja Sher-e Bangla naval cantonment on Saturday afternoon. Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association Chairman Nadia Sultana, Payra Port Chairman Rear Admiral Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury, Assistant Naval Chief Rear Admiral Md. Anwar Hossain, Mongla Port Chairman Rear Admiral Md. Shahin Rahman, Navy School and College Principal Lt. Col. Maruf Hasan and others were present during the inaugural occasion. After inaugurating the school, the Naval Chief planted saplings in the school ground and distributed newly school bags among the students.
Earlier, at around 9:30 in the morning, the Chief of Naval Staff inspected and saluted the graduation parade of 438 young sailors of the A/2024 batch of the Navy after bootcamp training. Later he distributed awards among the young sailors who achieved meritorious results. Md. Saifur Rahman Saif obtained the highest marks in all subjects among the fresh sailors of the A/2024 batch of the Navy and received the Chief of Naval Staff Medal as the best smart sailor. Md. Al Abi Hussam won the Kamkhul Medal for second place, Mohammad Shahriar won the Sher-e-Bangla Medal for third place and Maria Akhtar won the Pritilata Waddedar Medal.
In his speech, the Chief of the Navy recalled with deep respect the outstanding contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali of all time and the great architect of independence, the father of the nation, by using the institutional education of the young sailors and the military training received from the young sailor training school to carry out their duties properly in the path of national security and progress of the country. He expressed hope that the young sailors, inspired by the ideals of the father of the nation and the spirit of the liberation war, will play a leading role in the formation of the smart Bangladesh of the Honorable Prime Minister in addition to the security of the sea border of Bangladesh.
