Major General Ziaul Ahsan, who was recently removed from his position in the Bangladesh Army, has been detained by authorities.

Sources indicate that DGFI operatives took Ahsan back to Dhaka Cantonment on Tuesday night. His detention followed an incident involving Emirates Flight 585, which was redirected from the runway back to the boarding gate.

Biplab Kumar Sarker, the joint commissioner for administration and detectives-south of the DMP's Detective Branch, was also on the flight but was not detained.

Before his removal, Major General Ziaul Ahsan had served as the Director General of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre since 2022.
