BD Armed Forces visit USINDOPACOM for bilateral defence dialogue

Dhaka, Dec 17 -  US Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) hosted a delegation from the Armed Forces of Bangladesh for the 11th iteration of the Bilateral Defence Dialogue, December 10-12.

The delegation, led by Bangladesh’s Brig. Gen. Md Alimul Amin, Director General, Operations & Plan Directorate of Armed Forces Division, and UK Royal Navy Commodore Jonathan Lett, policy deputy for USINDOPACOM’s strategic planning and policy directorate, discussed bilateral and multilateral exercises, exchanges, capability development and military education.

The delegation also visited the Hawaii Emergency Operations Center and the US Coast Guard Base Honolulu at Sand Island.

The visits served to advance the defence and security partnership and develop mutual understanding of crisis response, peacekeeping operations, disaster relief, and humanitarian assistance challenges between the US and Bangladesh, said the US Embassy in Dhaka on December 17.

Bangladesh and the US have a long-standing relationship built on cooperation in the defence domain and a partnership underscored by mutual respect.-UNB
