Bangladesh Khilafat Movement Secretary General Maulana Habibullah Miyaji protested against the Ministry of Law for allowing 50 judicial officers of subordinate courts to go to India for training and said that they should be sent to learned muftis instead of India to strengthen their professionalism and motivation in addition to the prescribed training of judges to conduct justice impartially.

He said this in his speech as the president at a meeting of the Khilafat Movement on Sunday (January 5, 2025). The meeting was attended by, among others, Nayeb-e-Ameer of the Khilafat Movement Maulana Mujibur Rahman Hamidi, Organizing Secretary Mufti Sultan Mohiuddin, Publicity Secretary Maulana Saiful Islam Sunamganji, International Affairs Secretary and Dhaka Metropolitan Secretary Mofassir Hossain, among orhers.

Habibullah Miyaji said, in the Islamic system of governance, the judiciary can conduct justice independently, free from the influence of the executive branch. There are many examples in the history of Islam where judges themselves have given verdicts against heads of state. There are also instances where Muslim judges have given verdicts in favor of non-Muslims against Muslims in the interest of justice. Therefore, the learned muftis should be involved in the judicial work to conduct justice in a free and impartial manner, free from political influence. He said, despite India being our closest neighbor, they prefer to behave like a lord rather than a neighbor. Their training of our judges is also part of their hegemonic plan. The interim government should review all previous agreements and memorandums of understanding with India and cancel all agreements and memorandums of understanding that are against the interests of Bangladesh. - Press Release
