Ex-Army Chief Harun-Ar-Rashid found dead at Ctg Club

Chattogram, Aug 4 – Police recovered the body of former Army Chief M Harun-Ar-Rashid from Chittagong Club Guest House in Chattogram city on Monday.

Harun-Ar-Rashid went to Chattogram on Sunday to appear before a court in a case and stayed at the guest house, said police quoting his family.

Getting no response from the room of the guest house for a long time on Monday morning, the club authorities informed the matter to police, said Assistant Commissioner of Chattagram Metropolitan Police (Kotwali zone) Mohammad Mahfuz.

Later police broke open the door and recovered the body of Harun-Ar-Rashid.

The body was sent to the Combined Military Hospital, Chattogram.

Harun-Or-Rashid served as the chief of Bangladesh Army from 2000 to June 16, 2002.

He is survived by wife, one son, one daughter and host of relatives. - UNB
