Mosharraf inaugurates renovated stadium complex in Faridpur

Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer
Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain said here on Wednesday that the renovated
Sheikh Jamal Stadium, formerly Faridpur stadium, will be upgraded to
international standard so that international matches of all major
games can be arranged.
The minister while inaugurating the completely renovated and
reconstructed Sheikh Jamal Stadium said the sports tradition of this
district and standard of some major games particularly of hockey and
cricket is very rich.
The project was implemented at an estimated cost of Taka 4.25 crore
for constructing 600 feet of gallery, pucca drains, fencing and
earthwork. It may be mentioned here that the dilapidated galleries
built in the sixties were demolished as those became risky and unfit
for use.
The inaugural function was presided over by DC Mainuddin Ahmed.
The minister further informed that more than Taka 5 crore is in the
pipe line for further development of this stadium.
The inauguration was heralded by a very attractive football match
between Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting club and Dhanmondi Sheikh Russell
Football Club yesterday. Sheikh Russell club won the exhibition match
by 1-0.
Faridpur Police Super Zamil Hassan, BFF President Kazi Salauddin,
Sheikh Russell Club President Manjur Kader and Mohammedan Club
