New Film Censorship law passed in parliament

Sangsad Bhaban, Oct 29 - Bangladesh Film Certification Bill 2023 was passed in the Parliament on Sunday aiming for development and protecting the creativity of the film industries.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud moved the Bill and it was passed by voice vote.

The proposed law will replace the Censorship of Films Act, 1963.

According to the objective of the bill, it will be protecting, developing, preserving, family and social values of the domestic film industry, the spirit of the liberation war, independence, integrity, sovereignty, creativity of the film industry as well as the overall development of the film industry, and will provide film certification and fair screening of certified films. - UNB
