Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Jashore on Monday morning to inaugurate Ulashi Canal excavation project and attend various programmes, including a public rally and civic reception.

Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said Tarique landed at Jashore Airport around 10:20 am on a domestic flight.

During the day-long visit, Tarique will inaugurate Ulashi Canal excavation project in Sharsha upazila and address a civic reception there.

Later, after offering Zuhr prayers and having lunch at the Jashore Circuit House, he will lay the foundation stone of Jashore Medical College Hospital and visit Jashore Institute Public Library.

In the afternoon, Tarique will address a public rally at Jashore Central Eidgah Ground, organised by the district BNP.

The Prime Minister is expected to return to Dhaka by air in the evening after completing his programmes.

This is Tarique Rahman's first visit to Jashore since assuming office as Prime Minister.

He last visited the district on February 2, when he addressed an election rally at Jashore Upashahar Degree College Ground as BNP chairperson, reports UNB.
