2 held with 31 gold bars in Jashore

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two people and seized 31 gold bars weighing 3.641 kg from a private car on the Jashore-Narail Highway in Jashore early Saturday.


The identities of the arrestees could not be known immediately.

Tipped off, a team of BGB-49 intercepted a private car near Gate-1 of the Jashore BGB-49 Battalion around 2 am and recovered 31 gold bars, three mobile phone sets and Tk 4,815 in cash, said commanding officer of BGB-49, Lieutenant Colonel Golam Mohammad Saiful Alam Khan.

The seized gold is worth approximately Tk 7.14 crore in the local market, reports UNB.
