
The appointment was announced through a notification issued by the Local Government Division of the Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Ministry.
According to the notification, Dr. Khan has been appointed for a three-year term under section 7(1) of the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Amendment) Act, 2026.
Dhaka WASA is responsible for providing safe drinking water, managing sewerage and drainage services and operating the capital's water supply and sanitation systems.
The utility treats groundwater and river water before distributing it to households through an extensive pipeline network. It also plays a key role in wastewater management, drainage and ensuring hygienic sanitation services across the city, reports BSS.
