PM gifts new home to family of slain Jubo Dal leader

Considering the family’s long-standing hardship and humanitarian suffering, the house was built through the initiative of ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ under the advice and planning of the prime minister.

BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi inaugurated the newly built house on Sunday beside the Kalidas Pahalia River in the Bhorbazar area of Farhadnagar Union under Feni Sadar upazila.

Later, Rizvi handed over the keys to the new house to members of Harunur Rashid’s family.

Speaking as the chief guest at a rally held on the occasion at the South Farhadnagar Government Primary School field, Rizvi said those who opposed the government during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure had no right to live.

“BNP practices the politics of humanity and the politics of the people,” he said.

Rizvi said BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has always stood beside the party’s leaders and activists and their families.

“It is the moral responsibility of BNP to stand beside affected and persecuted families,” he said.

Members of Harunur Rashid’s family expressed joy and happiness after receiving the new house.

They said the new shelter has brought relief to their lives after years of hardship.

The programme was chaired by district BNP Convener Sheikh Farid Bahar.

Feni-2 MP Zainal Abedin, Feni-1 MP Munshi Rafiqul Alam Majnu, reserved women’s seat MP Rehana Akhter Ranu, and leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated and associate organisations also spoke at the programme, reports UNB.

Jubo Dal leader Md Harunur Rashid took part in a procession in support of a blockade programme on Shaheed Shahidullah Kaisar Road in Feni town on Dec 4, 2013.

He was killed in police firing at the time.
