EC finalizes plan to procure two lakh EVMs

The Election Commission (EC) will buy two lakh Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the next national election.



The Election Commission (EC) will buy two lakh Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the next national election, spending Tk 8711 crore.
The election commission took the final decision at a meeting held at the Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon area on Monday.
EC Secretary Humayun Kabir Khandaker confirmed the news.
The EC has finalized a project to buy two lakh new EVMs costing Tk 8,711 crore which will be used in the 12th parliamentary election. The proposal will be sent to Planning Commission, and later they will present it at the ECNEC meeting for final approval, he said.
