Three sent to jail over attack on Justice Manik

A Dhaka court Friday sent three leaders and activists of BNP including former councillor Harun Ur Rashid Harun to jail .



A Dhaka court Friday sent three leaders and activists of BNP including former councillor Harun Ur Rashid Harun to jail in a case lodged over the alleged attack on former Supreme Court judge AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik.

The two other accused are-- Swecchasebok Dol leader Rafik Hawlader and Jubo Dol leader Ali Akbar Chunnu.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Nurul Huda Chowdhury passed the order as police produced the trio before the court after end of their one-day

remand in the case and pleaded to keep them behind the bars till the end of probe.

The court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain on November 9 had placed them on one-day remand in the case.

Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik allegedly came under attack on November 2 as he was going through Paltan area on his personal vehicle.

Md Rafiqul Islam, gunman of the former Supreme Court judge filed the case with Paltan Police Station on that night against 40/50 unnamed leaders and

activists of the BNP for attacking him, Justice Manik, his driver and vandalising his car.
