Tamim rested to get him fully fit for England series

DHAKA, Feb 7, 2023 (BSS)- Khulna Tigers decided to give Tamim Iqbal rest for the remaining two matches of the Bangladesh Premier League, thinking about the national interest.

    Khulna which has already been eliminated from the playoff race of BPL took this decision since Tamim's back problem aggravated. The injury though was not serious which could sideline him, the injury may get worse if he continues to play. Considering all those factors, Khulna decided to rest him.

    "Tamim has a back strain problem for which he took an injection from Bangkok some days ago. But the problem aggravated," Khulna Tigers head coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon informed here today.

    "Since England series is coming up and Tamim Iqbal is the captain of ODI team, we have decided to not to play him for the remaining two matches in BPL. Hopefully the rest will help him get the full fitness ahead of the series."

     While his team failed to make it last four stage, Tamim also couldn't live up to the expectation. Even though he made 302 runs in 10 matches at an average of 33.55 and strike rate of 122.26, he was not as consistent as Khulna needed.

    England which are the world champions for one-day and T20 cricket simultaneously, will play three ODIs and three T20s against Bangladesh in March.
