6 vehicles, 5 orgs fined in anti-pollution drive in Dhaka

Dhaka, Mar 01 – A mobile court on Wednesday fined five institutions Tk 35,000 and six vehicles Tk 16,500 for polluting the Eden College and Mirpur areas in the capital city.

The drive was jointly conducted by the Department of Environment’s Monitoring and Enforcement wing, Dhaka Metropolitan Office and Dhaka District Administration as part of an anti-pollution campaign.

The six vehicles were fined at Eden college area for noise pollution while five institutions were fined at city’s Mirpur area on the ground of polluting air by keeping construction materials uncovered.

Such anti-pollution campaigns will continue in the future in Dhaka, officials said. - UNB
