Lightning kills 2 in Sunamganj

Two fishermen died after being struck by lightning in Chhatak and Dowarabazar upazils of Sunamganj on Thursday.

The deceased were Md Ismail, 42, and Ameer Ali, 35, from Chhatak and Dowarabazar upazilas respectively.

Ismail was struck by lightning while fishing in a waterbody near his house at Longipur village under Noarai union.

He was rushed to Chhatak Upazila Health Complex where physicians declared him dead, said Md Jakir Hosssain, officer-in-charge of Chhatak police station.

Besides, Ameer sustained severe injuries when a lightning hit him while fishing at noon.

Dr Hassan Ahmad, a physician of Dowarabazar Health Complex, said Ameer was brought dead to the hospital, reports UNB.
