Police FC emerge group top

Dhaka, 2 Nov - Bangladesh Police Football Club emerged as group A champions in the Independence Cup Football beating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by a solitary goal held at Bashundhara Kings Arena on Thursday.

In the day's match, Kyrgyz midfielder Manas Karipov scored the all-important goal for Police FC in the 26th minute of the match.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, who finished group runners-up, however tried their best to stage a fight back in the match, but they could not score any in the remaining proceeding.

Bangladesh Police Football Club earlier blanked Brothers Union Club by 2-0 goals while Sheikh Jamal crushed Brothers Union Club by 4-0 goals in both their respective group opening matches.

Meanwhile, old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society face Bangladesh Air Force Football Team in the group B match scheduled to be held Friday at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj at 2.30 pm.
