One more readymade garment (RMG) factory worker, who sustained injuries in a clash with law enforcers during protest over basic salary hike in Gazipur’s Konabari last Wednesday, died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) last night.

Md. Bachchu Miha, inspector and also in-charge of DMCH police outpost, confirmed the development.

The deceased Jalal Uddin, 42, was supervisor of Islam Garment in Konabari area of Gazipur, reports UNB.

With this, three RMG workers, including a female, have so far died in clashes with law enforcers over the past few days.

Last Wednesday, RMG workers of several factories got locked into clashes with law enforcers during protest for increasing their minimum salary (at Tk 23, 000), leaving some workers injured.

Later, Jalal was rushed to DMCH for better treatment where he died last night.

A 30-year-old RMG worker Anjuara Khatun succumbed to her injuries on the way to DMCH following the clashes that day.

On October 30, RMG worker Russell Hawladar died during a clash with police on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Bhogra in Gazipur.

His coworkers claimed that Russel died in “police firing.” But the police rejected it.
