The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has closed 150 factories indefinitely after blanket charges were issued for 11,000 workers by the police in connection with recent violent protests advocating for a higher minimum wage.

Meanwhile, One more readymade garment (RMG) factory worker, who sustained injuries in a clash with law enforcers during protest over basic salary hike in Gazipur’s Konabari last Wednesday, died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) last night. This raised the death toll to three so far, sources said. – GW News Desk
