Ansar & VDP clinch National Men’s Handball title

Dhaka, 6 March - Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party  clinched title of the EXIM Bank 34th National Men’s Handball competition beating Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) by 33-25 goals in the final held today (Wednesday) at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the city.


Robiul Islam of Bangladesh Ansar was adjudged the best player of the competition for his impressive performance.


While Bangladesh Police Handball Club finished third in the meet defeating Bandarban District Sports Association by 33-17 goals in the place-deciding match also held at the same venue.  
 
EXIM Bank Limited PLC’s managing director and chief executive officer Mohammad Firoz Hossain was the chief guest in the final and distributed the prizes.


Bangladesh Handball Federation’s (BHF) president AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul presided over the prize distribution ceremony.


BHF general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Maldives Handball Federation’s president Ahmed Muztoba and competition organising committee’s secretary Khalekuzzaman Swapan were present, among others, on the occasion. 


Earlier, on way to the final today (Tuesday), BGB beat Bandarban DSA by 46-29 goals in the first semifinal while Bangladesh Ansar defeated Bangladesh Police Handball Club by 40-30 goals in the second semis.


A total of 34 teams -- thirty one district sports associations and three services teams – took part in the meet, sponsored by EXIM Bank Limited and organized by BHF.
