At least 18 people were killed and numerous others injured
in a series of deadly clashes that broke out in several parts of the country
centring the non-cooperation movement by the banner of Anti-Discrimination
Student Movement.
In Munshiganj, at least two people have been killed and 30 others injured in a clash between protestors and Awami League men.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
In Rangpur, four Awami League men were killed, and over 100 people injured in a clash between protesters and Awami League activists.
In Pabna, three students were shot dead by the ruling party activists and 50 others injured in a clash between protesters and Awami League activists in Pabna district town on Sunday, said police.
The deceased were identified as Zahid Islam, 19, Mahbubul Hossain, 16 and Fahim, 17.
Masud Alam, additional superintendent of Pabna police, said a group of students of Pabna Government Edward College brought out a procession from their campus in the afternoon and were staging demonstrations peacefully at Abdul Hamid Road JB intersection as part of their scheduled non-cooperation movement.
In Sirajganj, at least four people were killed and many injured in a series of clashes between protesters, Awami League activists and police in Sirajganj amidst the ongoing non-cooperation called by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Moreover, the district saw extensive destruction, vandalism and arson including on police stations and houses of two lawmakers.
In Bogra, two people were killed in series of clashes between Awami League men and protesters since the morning.
In Magura, two people were killed, including a Chhatra Dal leader, were killed in clashes.
In Comilla. a Jubo Dal activist was killed, and 15 people, including three children, were injured during a clash between Awami League and protesters at Debidwar in Comilla.
