Maj (retd) Hafiz urges the interim govt to drop the ‘controversial persons’ from the advisory council
Dhaka, Aug 25 - BNP standing committee member Maj (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed on Sunday demanded the list of 487 persons who had taken shelter in cantonments to be made public soon.
“Make the list of 487 people who took shelter here (in the cantonments) public immediately,” he said.
The BNP leader placed the demand while talking to reporters after placing wreath at the grave of BNP founder President Ziaur Rahman in the capital.
He questioned what is there to fear in publishing the list. These miscreants must be restrained to make this revolution a success, he added.
Hafizuddin also urged the interim government to drop the ‘controversial persons’ from its advisory council and induct more students in it instead, if needed.
"Immediately remove controversial individuals and induct more students in the advisory council, if necessary. Induct the students from those who participated in the revolution,” he added.
Hafizuddin said his party will support this interim government to fulfill the goals of the August revolution. “But they (interim government) have to understand the essence of the revolution. Run the government with those who participated in the revolution,” Hafizuddin added.
Citing that they don't need intellectuals in the government, who stood silent in the tough times, he said, “We want this government to be formed with real revolutionaries. It is our expectation.”
The BNP standing committee member said, they had seen no one (of this government) other than Asif Nazrul (law adviser) who participated in this revolution.
Pointing at this government, he said this is not an NGO government rather it is the government of the people of Bangladesh. “Those who tortured the people of Bangladesh for 16 years must be brought to book," the BNP leader added.
On the occasion of the 32nd founding anniversary of BNP’s associate body, Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal, Hafizuddin Ahmed together with a team of the body led by its president Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat and general secretary Sadek Ahmed Khan placed the wreath at the grave of Ziaur Rahman. BNP’s liberation war affairs secretary Zainul Abedin was also present.
Talking about Aynaghar (secret prisons) which was created by the Awami League government, the BNP Standing Committee member said this interim government particularly its defence adviser along with journalists should have visited this Aynaghar to show how they brutally tortured and killed innocent people.
"No action is being taken against the creators of this Aynaghar. Only one person has been arrested,” he said.
Hafizuddin said, if anyone from those who strengthened the fallen Sheikh Hasina’s regime is in the advisory council of the interim government or the administration; the person should be removed.
“None of you should think that the victory has been achieved. Sheikh Hasina will hatch many conspiracies, staying in the neighboring country. So you should stay vigilant,” he added.-UNB
