Govt Cancels Contracts of 24 Officials

The government has terminated the contracts of 24 high-ranking officials, including three ambassadors, in a move announced by the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday.

This decision effectively ends their contractual appointments, cancelling the remaining duration of their tenures.

Among the officials affected are Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Germany, Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan; Ambassador to Iraq, Md Fazlul Bari; and Ambassador to Japan, Shahabuddin Ahmed.

Other prominent officials whose contracts were terminated include Sheikh Riaz Ahmed, Commissioner of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission; Md Delwar Hossain, Chairman of the Bangladesh Rubber Board; Syeda Sarwar Jahan, Member of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority; Zubaida Nasreen, Secretary of the Information Commission; and Md Kamruzzaman, Director General of the Bangladesh National Museum.

The cancellation also affects Additional Secretaries Syed Belal Hossain of the Public Department at the President’s Office, Ashok Kumar Debnath of the Election Commission, Sarwar Mahmud, Chairman of the National River Protection Commission, and Uttam Kumar Das of the Directorate of Primary Education.

Other officials relieved of their duties include Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, Director General of the National Science and Technology Museum; Satyendra Kumar Sarkar, Member of the National River Protection Commission; Shyamal Chandra Karmakar, Secretary of the Bangladesh Press Council; AFM Hayatullah, Executive Director of the Kavi Nazrul Institute; and Moha Borhanul Haque, Director General of Bangabandhu Poverty Alleviation and Rural Development Academy.
