Gazipur, Sept 29 - Armed assailants attacked two bank officials and two Ansar members with sharp weapons in Gazipur, making off with Tk 7 lakh.

As part of their daily routine, they were transferring cash from the Sonali Bank sub-branch at Tajuddin Medical to the bank’s main branch on Sunday afternoon, when they came under attack, according to Gazi Shahiduzzaman, AGM of Sonali Bank's Gazipur Court Building Branch, and local witnesses.

The four were carrying over Tk 7 lakh in an auto-rickshaw, heading towards the Principal Branch in the Joarpukur area. Upon reaching the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in the Rathkhola area, they were intercepted by 10-12 armed people on six motorcycles. The attackers attempted to seize the bag of cash and, when resisted, fired warning shots to create panic. They then attacked the four individuals with sharp weapons before escaping with the bag of cash.
