Dhaka, Nov 6 - BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday.

“Congratulations to President-elect Donald J. Trump on his electoral victory. We look forward to a future of strengthened ties and collaboration between our two nations,” he said in a Facebook post.

The BNP leader said, the victory demonstrates America's robust democratic processes.

"The people of Bangladesh are eager to move forward with their own free and fair elections and cement our shared commitment to democratic values and fundamental freedoms," he added.

Trump secured victory on Wednesday, surpassing the 270 electoral college votes needed to win.

In a victory speech before the official declaration, he vowed to “put our country first” and bring about a “golden age” for America.-UNB
