Vape importers have submitted a memorandum to Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, urging the government to reconsider its decision to ban the import of e-cigarettes.

A delegation from Voice of Vapers, Consumer Rights of Sales Alternatives (CORSA), and Bangladesh Electronic Nicotine Delivery System Traders Association (BENDSTA) presented the memorandum at the Chief Adviser's official residence on Saturday.

In the memorandum, the stakeholders voiced strong concern over the government's move to add e-cigarettes and Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) to the list of prohibited items in the Import Policy Order issued by the Ministry of Commerce.

The importers argued that the ban would deprive adult smokers of a less harmful alternative to traditional cigarettes, potentially leading to adverse effects on public health and the economy.

Earlier in the day, the group organized a human chain at Shahbagh under the theme, "Reconsider the Import Ban on Harm Reduction Products to Prevent Smoking."
