Investigation into Livestock Sector Corruption Announced

Akhter made these comments after inaugurating the Institute of Livestock Science and Technology in Tilagarh, Sylhet. She highlighted that, under the former administration, substantial funds were diverted from intended projects, leaving many initiatives incomplete. The government will thoroughly investigate these discrepancies and take appropriate action, she emphasized. Additionally, she assured that reforms within the Ministry will run parallel to these investigations, ensuring justice and transparency.

The adviser also addressed the damage caused by recent floods, noting the significant losses not only to human life but also to livestock, poultry, and other animals in flood-hit areas of Sylhet. To mitigate future crises, the government plans to establish special shelters for animals in flood-prone regions. Furthermore, she announced measures to ensure the provision of food for animals during floods, similar to relief efforts for affected people, in order to protect the nation’s livestock.

Following the inauguration, Akhter participated in a meeting with livestock officers from the Sylhet division at the District Dairy Farm conference room. The meeting focused on the ministry's ongoing and upcoming initiatives to support the sector.

Also present at the event were Additional Secretaries A.T.M. Mostafa Kamal and Md. Tofazzal Hossain of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Dr. Md. Reazul Haque, Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md. Sher Mahbub Murad, and Project Director Jahangir Alam.
