Dhaka, Jan 15 - Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has partnered with Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) launching a $9.65mn project to strengthen national statistical Services using advanced technology.
KOICA, the Republic of Korea’s leading development agency, in collaboration with the BBS, announced the launch of the Capacity Development of Statistics Service Based on Platform project recently.
This project is seen as a significant step in KOICA’s ongoing efforts to support the government of Bangladesh in its pursuit of sustainable development, good governance, and economic growth.
The successful implementation of this initiative will ensure that Bangladesh’s statistical services are well-equipped to meet the growing demands of a data-driven, digital future, KOICA said.
“We are proud to partner with BBS on this transformative project,” said Taeyoung Kim, KOICA Country Director in Bangladesh.
“By enhancing BBS’s capabilities, we are investing in the long-term development of Bangladesh’s statistical infrastructure, which is vital for achieving the SDGs and realizing Digital Bangladesh.”
This $9.65 million initiative, starting now and continuing into the coming years, aims to modernize and strengthen Bangladesh’s national statistical system through the integration of advanced ICT technologies.
This will, KOICA said, ultimately contribute to informed decision-making and evidence-based policymaking, which are essential for Bangladesh’s continued progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the country’s Digital vision.
KOICA said its continued support for this project underscores its commitment to advancing data-driven governance, transparency, and public service delivery in Bangladesh.
By strengthening the capacity of the national statistical system, the development agency said, the project will directly contribute to improved policymaking, fostering greater accountability and inclusivity in government operations.-UNB
