Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has urged global leaders to apply the power of sports for bringing social change.

He made the call at a plenary session on "The State of Climate and Nature" on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum annual summit in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday.

Prof Yunus said the sports should not remain just an entertainment as it has so much social power.

Mentioning his experience of working for the Paris 2024 Olympics, the chief adviser said he was invited in 2018 to include social issues to the Paris Olympics and simultaneously agreed, replying "Yes, of course, we can do that".

He said Milan has also sought his help in hosting the Winter Olympics in 2026 to make it a social one.

"... there are many things right in front of us. We never try it in a different way. We are not sacrificing anything; we are adding something to it," Prof Yunus said.

Lamiya Morshed, SDG Coordinator of the Bangladesh government, and Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam were present at the meeting, reports BSS.
