No Police Verification Required for Passports: CA
Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus
In a significant move to streamline the passport application process, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has announced that citizens will no longer need to undergo police verification to obtain a passport.
Speaking at the inauguration of the annual Deputy Commissioners’ conference in the capital, Dr. Yunus emphasized that the new rule is a step towards simplifying government services. "Obtaining a passport is a fundamental right of every citizen. If police verification is not required for birth certificates or national ID cards, why should it be necessary for passports?" he stated.
Dr. Yunus further underscored the importance of teamwork within the government, noting that "Success comes when we work as a cohesive unit. We must eliminate any obstacles that hinder the collective progress of our team."
This year’s conference will feature 30 working sessions, involving various ministries and government departments, as well as four special sessions. These include the inaugural ceremony, a meeting with the Chief Justice, an open discussion with the Chief Adviser, and a session with the Bangladesh Administrative Service Association.
In preparation for the event, 354 proposals from Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and divisional commissioners have been submitted, with the conference set to conclude on February 18 (Tuesday).
